Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issues a new Resolution modifying passports processes

On October 24 of this year the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued Resolution 8372. The document changes the list of documents needed to request a new Colombian Passport, please find below some of the main changes:

 

  • People who identify themselves with a temporary ID must attached a simple copy of the birth certificate, this is an important change since it eases the process to obtain a passport. Previously it was necessary to attach an authenticated copy of the mentioned document.
  • Minors must continue to identify themselves with the duly authenticated copy of the birth certificate.
